FAQ's to help enhance your Yellowstone Cabin experience

Please contact us with any questions you may have about your upcoming Yellowstone vacation plans if they are not answered below. We are happy to make suggesions so your trip to Yellowstone and Montana is the best it can be.

01

How far in advance of my vacation should I make reservations?

The Grizzly Den on the Yellowstone Riverfront is available year-round and peak-summer dates tend to book up quickly, sometimes a year in advance.  However, we do occassionally have openings and are able to accommodate last-minute guests.  We do suggest contacting us and booking your reservation as soon as you have your dates confirmed.

02

What is the minimum night stay at The Grizzly Den on the Yellowstone River?

The Grizzly Den has a 3-night minimum stay during peak season (May 1-October 31) and a 2-night minimum stay during off-peak season (November 1 -April 30).  However, to fully experience all Yellowstone National Park has to offer we do recommend a 5-7 night stay.  Discount rates may apply for a 7-night stay.

03

What activities are there to entertain various ages?

Yellowstone changes on a daily basis and just as each trip to the park is unique and special, each day brings new experiences.  There are a variety of adventures in and around Yellowstone National Park.  Depending upon the number and age(s) in your party we suggest the following:

  • Sightseeing in Yellowstone National Park (photography opportunities & wildlife viewing)

  • Whitewater rafting on the Yellowstone River

  • Horseback riding in the mountains

  • Zip-Line adventures

  • Visit Montana Grizzly Encounter (exit 319) between Bozeman & Livingston (see grizzlies without cages and possibly Brutus-the-Bear).

  • Hiking on the many trails throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (ALWAYS CARRY BEAR SPRAY!!!!)

  • Fly fish the many rivers/streams (fishing license required)

  • Hire a guide and fish Yellowstone Lake

  • Rent canoe/kayak and paddle the shores of Yellowstone Lake or river (experience may be necessary)

  • Cross-country skiing or Snowshoeing in winter

Are there restaurants nearby if we do not want to cook at the cabin?

Yes!  There are several great restaurants in Gardiner that serve a variety of food.  Some locations may be seasonal and only open during peak season.  There is also a nice restaurant in Corwin Springs (4-miles away) or Chico Hot Springs in Emigrant (30-miles away) reservations are recommended at Chico. Caution is recommended if traveling at night as bison, elk or deer may be on the roadway.

Does the Grizzly Den cabin accept pets?

While we do love animals, the Grizzly Den on the Yellowstone River does not allow pets to ensure all our guests are able to have an enjoyable experience and avoid any pet related allergy issues.  There are places to board animals in Bozeman if necessary.
